Listening to Silence VI

April 22, 2016

This leaf interests me. It's obvious, I spent nearly a week now showing you pictures of mostly this leaf. (And there's one more day's worth to go --) Today's series is a different perspective, though. It shows you the leaf's attachment to the branch. The wind blows, the leaf goes horizontal stretching away from the branch, as if trying with all its might to get away and fly free to parts unknown. But the branch isn't the one holding it back.

The leaf is holding itself back.

Listening to Silence IV

Same image, different crop for each. What's your favorite part?

For me, it's the bottom of the first image (also the right of the last image). There's some definition and some blur in the leaf edge that has an elegance and delicateness to it, with absolutely beautiful coloring. And second, of course, the geometry of the branch intersections in the second image.

You definitely need to see these #headshots from my #photoshoot with @vaughn33 - lucky to be quarantining with these lovelies! 💐
When #whatsnext feels unknowable, it feels good to design the #nextstep for your #embroidery project 😍 #fezembroidery #moroccanembroidery
Teaching my #first #paintnsip tonight, and these are my four trial run ideas (first is copy of Van Gogh)... which one should I teach to beginners? 1, 2, 3, or 4?

After abruptly losing my job (and home and future plans) two weeks ago, I feel like I’m finally getting settled into this new normal. Like a lot of you, I’m figuring out this #quarantinelife and starting to sketch out ideas

So hard to know what the future holds - or even the next 24 hours - but I’m always grateful for some quality time on the #beachesofmorocco

#tetouanembroidery often -always? - uses this doubled brick stitch to fill the hand drawn shapes, and often outlines some or all shapes in black 🎉
Finally finished the #nextlevel of this #moroccanembroidery I’ve been working on. Crazy excited to design the next step 😍
